8th International IMEKOFOODS Conference

From September 22 to 24, the 8th edition of the IMEKOFOODS conference took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Its goal was to bring together leading scientists working in various fields related to the food sector, such as authenticity, traceability, nutrition, food safety, quality, and risk assessment, where metrology plays a crucial role. This conference created a unique space for industry experts to exchange knowledge, discuss future innovations, and promote research to improve consumer protection and ensure a safer and more transparent food system. METROFOOD-IT/ENEA researchers participated in this event with several speeches:

  • Dr. Claudia Zoani from the Sustainable Agri-food Systems Division and Coordinator of METROFOOD-RI and METROFOOD-IT, who delivered a presentation titled: "FAIR principles and metrological approaches for food integrity: data accuracy, availability, and privacy in the supply chain" and served as a moderator in the session "ANALYTICAL APPROACHES IN FOOD CONTAMINANTS."
  • Dr. Annamaria Bevivino with the presentation: "Food Side Stream-Derived Soil Improvers and Microbiome-Based Solutions for boosting soil health and food quality."
  • Dr. Manuela Costanzo with the presentation: "multi-omics approach of wheat varieties, agronomic practices and functional microbiome for sustainable precision agriculture."
  • Dr. Alessandra Bernardini with the presentation: "Use of by-products in sourdough bread: Integrating analytical and technological services for sustainable food innovation."
  • Dr. Filippo Sevi with the presentation: "Elemental and Metabolomic Characterization of Coffee Plant By-Products for Functional Beverage Development."
  • Dr. Valeria Poscente with the presentation: "Antimicrobial Packaging Innovation for Fresh Strawberries."
  • Dr. Giulia Puzo (Sapienza University of Rome - AGRITECH Project) with the presentation: "Integrating Elemental and Isotopic Analysis for Wheat Authentication and Traceability."
  • The presentation by Dr. Giacomo Serafini, who could not attend, was delivered by Dr. Claudia Zoani: "Co-Creation, the responsibility to be innovative."
