Report presenting the Scientific Plan for the Preparatory Phase and the 2nd Interim Phase of METROFOOD-RI, based on advancements in key thematic research areas of food science, technology and nutrition within the timespan 2015-2020.

Special emphasis is given to hot topics and emerging needs strongly associated with metrology. The “scientific case” presented within this document represents the basis for the definition and prioritisation of topics where to focus the scientific activities within METROFOOD-RI in the short-term, supporting the provision of high-level metrology services in food and nutrition. It is comprised of interdisciplinary fields throughout the food value chain including food safety, food quality, food integrity, sustainability of agri-food systems, circular economy and industrial symbiosis, environmental safety and human health.
